With July’s sweltering heat bearing down and temperatures soaring across the Jianghuai region, the construction site of the Su-Wan-Yu Trunk Pipeline Project (Binhai–Lushan) – General Contracting Lot 1 is pushing forward at full throttle. Undertaken by China Petroleum (Xinjiang) Engineering Co., Ltd., this state-key energy infrastructure project is maintaining a coordinated, multi-process rhythm despite the oppressive summer conditions.

As of July 15, Lot 1 had achieved the following cumulative milestones: 

Right-of-way clearing: 139.273 km

Right-of-way grading (skipping): 113.214 km

Pipeline welding: 70.241 km

Field joint coating: 35.766 km 

All construction sequences are progressing steadily and on schedule. 

Welding – The Critical Core

Welding remains the linchpin of long-distance pipeline construction, as the quality of each girth weld directly determines the long-term operational safety of the entire line. The welding equipment deployed on this lot is the Xionggu automatic welding system.

Since the onset of summer, the Jiangsu section of the route has seen consecutive daytime highs exceeding 35°C. Inside the mobile on-site windproof welding shelters, the confined, cramped spaces turn into giant steam chambers. The steel pipe walls, baked under the blazing sun, become almost scalding to the touch—and with the intense arc heat generated by the welding torches, temperatures inside the shelters far outstrip those outside.

Yet amid this extreme heat, the Xionggu automatic welders have demonstrated exceptional performance, running reliably and stably—enduring the same grueling conditions as the welders themselves.
